Snow day

We had our biggest snowfall to date this past weekend, 12 inches at least!  Luckily we had plenty of warning so I was able to get good snow clothes for the kids, and they got to spend some time out in it.  Willa did all the classic things, built a snowman, made a snow angel, and caught snowflakes on her tongue.  She also got to miss two days of school (and counting), which I think was the biggest thrill of all.

Snow angel time!

Evie wasn't really sure what to do, and she couldn't quite walk in her snow gear

Evie asked to sit in the snowy chair after multiple failed attempts to toddle in the snow

Blobby the snowman, too powdery to take shape

Willa's favorite part by far was eating all the snow!

The next day the snow was a little firmer and Willa and Jeremy were able
to make this very Burl Ives looking snowman!

Holiday parade 2018

Last Saturday was quite a whirlwind of holiday fun!

First, we went to visit Santa with Willa's best friend Zoey and Zoey's older sister, Riley.  I had been preparing Willa to sit in Santa's lap for a while.  I talked to her about what to expect, what feelings she might have, and how she could trust this stranger if I was right there with them.  We practiced what she would say and be asked to do, and she seemed ready.  With all this preparation, I overlooked the fact that just as Willa was growing out of the fear, Evie was growing into it.  The result was that both girls made it into Santa's lap, although Evie was screaming the whole 30 seconds it took to take the picture!  Willa was brave enough to tell him what he wanted, and was quite proud of herself.  I am so proud of my girl!

Later that day we went downtown for the annual holiday parade.  We had lots of fun taking pictures before the parade, but the skies opened up and rained us out before too long.  Willa had fun grabbing as much candy as she could, and our little trooper tried to make it until Santa came, but two hours was just too long in the rain!

We also had a sweet time decorating our Christmas tree.  I relented and got an artificial one this year, although I will miss the smell of a real one.  Willa was a big helper and very careful with hanging ornaments.  Evie kept a safe distance, and was photogenic as ever!

What a great start to the holiday season!!

Halloween 2018

For Halloween this year we went trick or treating in our neighborhood with Willa's best friend, Zoey.  All three girls were beautiful butterflies!  Willa and Zoey zoomed around flapping their wings, and Evie hung back in the stroller, although she tried to pull the wagon on her own at one point.   Too funny!

Evie had her first taste of candy, a tiny cherry lollipop.and quite enjoyed it.  At one point, I heard her little voice saying "back back!"  Seems she took the candy off the stick and dropped it; much to her disappointment, I couldn't fix it.  She was surprisingly ok with that, and spent the rest of the night chilling in her stroller.  She walked a little, but never made it to the front door.  She was a sweet girl, just watching the big girls have fun.

It was a truly awesome night, with perfect weather, good friends, and plenty of sweet treats.
